Raised among the secluded communities surrounding La Lune, Lumen grew up watching his kind survive through silence, secrecy and fear. Humans rarely saw fishfolk as people and those who did often treated them as omens, creatures or prey. Over time, bitterness became resentment and resentment slowly grew into something far more dangerous.

In search of power strong enough to not only protect himself but also to overturn the balance between sea and shore, Lumen entered a pact with an ancient force buried beneath the world. The deal granted him immense power, but bound him to a purpose that was never truly his own.

Unlike others tied to the Boss, Lumen does not seek attention. He is patient, quiet and difficult to track, preferring to linger unseen beneath docks, fog and dark waters long before striking. Many sailors know the stories of something watching from beneath the tide, though few realize those stories point to something real.

Though cold and predatory by nature, Lumen has formed an unusually close attachment to Bitumine. What began as simple cooperation slowly became loyalty and eventually something far more personal. While he still claims to despise humanity, his focus has begun to drift from the Boss’ grand designs toward helping Bi escape the fate forced upon him.

APPEARANCE

Lumen’s appearance balances uneasily between humanoid and deep-sea predator. His build is lean and angular, designed for fluid movement rather than strength. Two pairs of glowing cyan eyes stare out from beneath dark hair tied loosely back, much of it falling over one side of his face. In low light, his markings softly illuminate across his shoulders and arms like bioluminescence beneath dark water.

Sharp teeth line his mouth, visible even when he speaks softly, while dark claws tip his fingers and feet. Across his chest are visible scars left uncovered. Behind him trails a large tail, powerful enough to move through water with unnatural speed. Extending above his head is a glowing lure resembling that of an anglerfish, swaying faintly in darkness and casting dim cyan light around him.

Jewelry, charms and dangling trinkets decorate his clothing and body, many appearing collected rather than crafted. Combined with the quiet way he moves, it gives the impression of something pieced together from treasures dragged up from the sea floor. Even standing still, he rarely feels fully visible. More like something briefly noticed in the corner of your eye before vanishing beneath the water again.
