Ciel, better known by his operator name “Souris,” is an experienced French military combat medic, recognized not only for his medical expertise but for his refusal to let the brutality of his work strip away his humanity. Back in France Ciel was known to be a man who spent his days on his family’s farm, tending to animals, picking flowers and looking after his six younger siblings, even after joining the military. When SLAS broke out, that life was left behind. Ciel was sent to America as part of an escort mission, only for the operation to collapse alongside the world around them. Separated from his family and stranded thousands of miles from home, he now lives with the possibility that he may be one of the few medics left in the region. Despite everything he has witnessed, Ciel continues to treat every life as worth saving. Perhaps more than anything else, he fears becoming the kind of person who no longer cares.

Standing at 6'1", Ciel has a gentle yet weathered appearance, defined by cold blue eyes, pale blond hair and a scar running across the center of his face. His hair is usually tied into a short, low ponytail, while a hint of stubble along his chin adds to his rugged appearance. Despite his soft features, years of military service have left him with the build and presence of someone accustomed to carrying both people and equipment through dangerous situations. Ciel is most often seen in his standard field attire, a dark olive turtleneck beneath his tactical vest, camo cargo pants and dark military boots. Various holsters and pouches keep his equipment within easy reach, while his medical bag is never far from his side. A helmet and gas mask complete his gear, protecting him from the hazards of the world he now works in.
